Welcome back to Fascism?!
Switzerland is considering banning Minarets in the country. For information, a Minaret is the tower on Mosque from where usually Mullah is praying. Banning it is like prohibiting the cross over a Church. Making decision in this matter according to our own religion would be wrong and probably very dangerous at the same time. I don't know any reasonable argument to ban Minarets, especially when it happens exactly because of religion they represent and nothing else.
I saw a person in this video arguing, that Minarets were symbol of Ottoman Empire. I don't think it's wise for Europe to go back to those ages. Especially in the time, when people need to fight extremism, you can't push all other believers to extremism. First, injustice may produce extremism in victims of such discrimination. Second, you can't demand from other not to be, what you want to be so joyfully.
Europe tends in my opinion to be racist. For me banning a teacher from school because she wore headscarf was cruel enough (decision of Supreme Court in Germany). I couldn't understand why my best friend who, as some other Muslims, wears it, had to be discriminated and why was it justified. Was I better person, because I wear no headscarf? It always horrified me, that most people can so easy think they are superior to others. It was then, that I realized, one always needs to demand his/her rights as a human. Never will come time, when you can think, all will go well, without you care.
Now other ideas are being born in Europe, banning of minarets. What is the next? Banning the people to enter the Mosque? Banning their books and believes. Burning them as a Satan in fire? I know the time of Hitler is gone and over. But is it really if the same ideas will be applied and spread in the countries? Discrimination of Jewish people also started with so called 'small' steps. At the end it reached such a level that no normal person has any explanation for it. I think Government, if it is not fascistic regime, must avoid disturbing social peace. Movement may easy lose control. Already two years back, when I was in Germany, number of ‘New Nazis’ was growing. Their party even got the right to participate in the elections and a lot of Turkish, Jewish, African people were dying because of crimes, that were based on their race and ethnicity. Shocking to see in this video bellow the ads, which reminds me ads made against Jewish people made in Hitler's time.
So why on earth Switzerland wants to ban minarets? European countries often discuss issue of integration, how to make it work better. My question is, does it help people to integrate, when they feel discriminated and threatened? Or is real issue to assimilate newcomers? But I am sure with such moves European governments will achieve neither of it, only further destabilisation of a situation. On example of Canada I see, that many new comers are very comfortable to love Canada and feel as a part of a country, especially in a time. I think that's because Canada gives them more freedom. You can't possibly hate the country where you feel great. That's so natural. People start to love the place where they live. And the point is, if people are feeling good about the place they live in, their instinct to hold on culture, traditions or religion of their origin is not extreme. Different is situation in Europe. Newcomers, mostly people from Islamic countries don't feel welcomed. Even though some live there for generation and have German passports, they are still considered Ausleander (foreigners). While living there, I couldn't imagine seeing so called foreign faces in a place such a city hall as a employees. What I noticed was that young people stand between two radical choice, either deny culture of their parents, blame religion and be totally assimilated with other Germans, or bare that they will be never recognized and successful in that society.
I wonder what policies in European governments are and what their idea is for the future. On the one hand, Europe needs actually new immigrants, but on the other hand, others are not welcomed. I hope EU is not fighting Ottoman Empire now, because then they have real problems, because of living in old ages and missing the situation of present. EU is well-known for defending Human and even animal rights on this planet. If such decisions were made somewhere in totalitarian regime, or some other developing country, where freedom of religion didn't exist or isn't well known, they would write amazing report, how rights of peoples were violated...and what surprises me more is that they fail to use this knowledge in their own land.
EU countries have still great potential and big achievement in human history. I hope they will remain on this respectful place, which they posses because of their respect towards Human rights.
P.S. Can you abolish Human Rights per referendum? :)
